# Give your app a creator army (Avouch)

Avouch is a marketplace of short-form creators (TikTok, Reels, Shorts). They pick apps to promote. Each creator gets their own
tracked link and code for the app, and makes their videos with Avouch's editor. The app pays nothing up front and no monthly
fee. On each paid sale to a new customer that a creator's link brought in, it pays 35%: 30 to the creator and 5 to Avouch (a
subscription for its first 12 months; a free sign-up pays nothing until it converts). No sale, nothing to pay.
Every sale comes with a signed receipt the app can verify.

Avouch opens to a small number of brands at a time and picks them by hand. Applying is free. An app that doesn't get a
seat yet is on the waitlist: no creator sees it and nothing is charged.

## What you do, in order

### 1. Understand the app

Read the repo, README and live website. You need:

- **name**: the product's name, as on its site.
- **url**: the live https address. Avouch fetches it once, so it must load for anyone.
- **tagline**: one line on what it does, 10 to 90 characters.
- **about**: two to four sentences: what it is, who it's for, what it costs. 40 to 600 characters. Plain words, no hype.
- **founder** and **email**: the person applying, and where Avouch writes back.

### 2. Check it's ready, and say plainly what isn't

- The site answers over https.
- There is a refund policy a buyer can find. Avouch's check looks for one, and creators never see an app without one.
- It isn't a refused kind: gambling, adult, weapons, drugs, get-rich schemes, payday loans, MLM, miracle health claims.
- It can report sales: a Stripe checkout (one webhook) or a server that can send one signed request per sale. This is step 6.

If something is missing, tell the person what to fix before applying. Don't apply an app that would fail.

### 3. Agree the commission with the person

Avouch's standard is **35% of each paid sale** (30 to the creator, 5 to Avouch; a subscription's first 12 months). Tell them
that, and ask whether they accept it. They may set another rate (5 to 70); a higher one gets picked by more creators. Creators see
what one sale pays them, never a promise of income.

- In the apply call, `commission` is the whole rate the app pays (35 by default).
- If they want, a higher rate for posts with the creator on camera (`face_commission`, at least the base rate, at most 90).

Never decide this for them. Read it back, then wait for a yes.

### 4. Optional: show them how it works first

This runs Avouch's real code in a sandbox that shares nothing with the live service. It uses no key, sends no email, and pays nobody:

```sh
curl -s -X POST https://app.avouchhq.com/v1/sandbox/run -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -d '{"app_name":"<name>","url":"<url>","tagline":"<tagline>","commission":<n>}'
```

It returns each step (listed, checked, a fictional creator promotes it, a simulated buyer clicks, a sale is reported) and a
signed receipt marked `livemode: false`. Show them the steps and the receipt page (`https://app.avouchhq.com` + `receipt_page`).
Say clearly that it's a simulation.

### 5. Apply, once they say yes

```sh
curl -s -X POST https://app.avouchhq.com/api/list -H 'Content-Type: application/json' -d '{
  "name": "<name>", "url": "<url>", "tagline": "<tagline>", "about": "<about>",
  "founder": "<their name>", "email": "<their email>", "commission": 35, "agree": true
}'
```

`agree: true` means the person has read and accepts the brand rules at https://avouchapi.com/apps#rules. Only send it
after they've said so.

The answer:

- `ok: true`, with `page` (the app's public page) and `manage` (its **private** manage page, `/f/<token>`). Give the person the
  full manage link `https://app.avouchhq.com/f/<token>` and tell them to keep it private: it controls the listing. Don't paste
  it anywhere public, and don't commit it to the repo.
- `seat`, when Avouch is choosing brands by hand: `status: "seated"` (creators can find it now) or `"waitlist"` (Avouch emails
  them when a seat opens; nothing is charged meanwhile). Read the `detail` back to them as it is.
- `ok: false` with `fields`: fix exactly what each field says and try again. `already`: that website is listed. `refused`: a
  kind Avouch doesn't list. `slow_down`: too many from one connection today.

### 6. Connect sales, so creators get paid automatically

On the manage page they'll find the app's own details. Two ways, pick the one that fits:

- **Stripe checkout:** in their Stripe dashboard, add a webhook endpoint `https://app.avouchhq.com/v1/stripe/<slug>` for
  `checkout.session.completed`, `charge.refunded` and `charge.dispute.created` (and, for subscriptions, `invoice.paid` and
  `customer.subscription.deleted`, so each renewal in the first 12 months counts for the creator who brought the customer), then
  paste its signing secret (`whsec_...`) on the manage page. Pass the click id Avouch's link hands the checkout as `client_reference_id` (or `metadata.sc_click`).
- **Their own server:** send `POST https://app.avouchhq.com/v1/conversions` once per sale, signed with the listing's secret
  (header `Sharecut-Signature: t=<unix>,v1=<hex HMAC-SHA256(secret, "<t>.<raw body>")>`, like Stripe's scheme).

Offer to make the change in their code. Show the diff and get a yes before you commit.

### 7. Report back

In a few lines: applied (seated or waitlist), the commission, the manage link (private), whether sales are connected, and
what's left. No promises about how many creators or sales there will be.

## Rules you keep

- Real information only. Never invent a refund policy, price, customer number or testimonial for the listing.
- The person decides the commission and agrees to the rules. You never tick `agree` for them.
- Never claim Avouch has partnered with anyone, and never promise results.
- The manage link and any signing secret are private: never in a public file, issue, commit or chat log.
